Connections Community Church History
The Connections Community Church was birthed in the heart of Dr. Jeffery Johnson in the year of 2007 during a church retreat with Dr. Gregory Macintosh in Orlando, Fl. Through the speaking of the Holy Spirit the Lord led Dr. Johnson at that time to begin to erect a vision and mission for a church that was designed to connect people to Christ. For five years the ministry remained in the heart of Pastor Johnson before the Lord gave the clearance to launch.
During the months of March 2011 through November 2011 several prelaunch activities and events took place. A church analysis survey was conducted; prayer walks were taken throughout Manor Grove Apartments, and two pre-launch meetings were held at High Point Church to cast vision with potential supporters. On December 6, 2011, we held our first service at the High Point Community Church where Pastor Jack Hilligoss is the pastor. This service was opened with worship by Min. Joseph Leath and the inaugural message was delivered by Pastor Jeffery Johnson. For this first service sixteen people were in attendance. During the same inaugural month of beginning on December 17, 2011 Connections Church hosted their first Connection Care mission event. During this event hundreds of Christmas toys were given away as well as nearly 250 people were feed.
Over the next several months, Connections Church would become known to the city of Lake Wales through door to door evangelism, mail outs, and community relationships. By this time the first initial member joined the fellowship, Lucy Milligan. After her membership to the fellowship others soon followed. Triple C Church would go on to host their 1st Annual Mother’s Day Luncheon, back to school giveaway, and 1st Fall revival with Dr. Thomas Scott and Dr. Henry Lyons. Over the course of time ministries have begun. To give support to the church and pastor a church governance board was started. The members of this board included; Pastor Jeffery Johnson, Sis. Lucy Milligan, Sis. Veronica Minton, Bro. Adrian Hickman, and Min. Joseph Leath. Over the first year of the church ministries were organized and their leaders were commissioned to serve. We were able to occupy our own worship facility in March 2013 and began Sunday morning services in April 2013 with nearly 100 people in attendance.
Over the next few years CCC would become a household name in Polk County communities as church of restoration, excellence, and spiritual development. CCC began hosting the yearly Creating Better Leaders Conference in which many church leaders and pastors would benefit. In the year of 2017 Dr. Johnson would be elevated to serve as an Overseer in the lower house of prelature and the Florida State Diocesan for the United Covenant Churches of Christ under the leadership of the Most Reverend Eric D. Garnes. Upon the leading of the Holy Spirit Overseer Johnson as of September 2020 has once again united with Bishop Garnes as an Executive Council member and Chief Community Officer for the newly formed Kingdom International Consortium.
Over the past nine years of ministry membership have increased to nearly 200 people, land has been purchased, a second location has been added in Tampa FL (2018), and deacons have been trained and ordained. In March 2020 Overseer Johnson appointed Elder Mark Marcus to serve as the church first Executive Pastor and Elder Charlene D. Norwood to serve as the second installed associate pastor. Our loving first family is comprised of Dr. Johnson, Lady Teasia Johnson, and the brothers Johnson; Jeffery TJ., Josiah, and Jonah.
